Q: Where is First Congregational UCC?
A: Our church is located at 715 Wisconsin Street, in Lake Geneva
Wisconsin, two blocks north of downtown. For worship, please enter
our main entrance located on Wisconsin Street. And, for church
business, please enter from the east entrance (the right side of the
building when viewing the grounds from Wisconsin Street)
Q: What time are the services?
A: 10:00am Sunday Morning
Q: What time should I plan to arrive?
A: Plan to arrive about 10 minutes before the service starts in order
to have time to find a parking spot and locate a seat.
Q: What about Sunday School for my
children?
A: First Congregational UCC believes that children are our greatest
gift, and we strive to create an environment where they can
experience the love of God through community, learning, play and
worship. We are dedicated to providing a safe, accepting
environment where children feel loved and valued. We offer a
variety of programs and activities that honor each child’s
interests and developmental level. We strive to partner with
parents in their children's formation of faith.
The Church School year is coordinated with the school calendar. So, we begin with Rally Day (a Church School Kick-Off of sorts) in September. We conclude with a Children's Sunday in the beginning of June, when children's accomplishments during the Church's school year are celebrated, and teachers are recognized.
The children leave for Sunday School after Kid’s Time in worship. You may escort them to their classes and then return to the service. Alternatively, children are welcome to remain in the Sanctuary for the entire service.
The children then join us for coffee fellowship before heading to music program. Rehearsal times will be after church and fellowship from 11:20 am - Noon. The children learn how to play African Drums, hand drums, and bongos and incorporate them into their performances! There are also be opportunities for children 4th grade and above to learn how to play the handbells.
Q: Where should I park?
A: First Congregational UCC's parking lot is just north of the church
on the back of the building (when viewing the grounds from Wisconsin
Street). Parking is also available on Sundays on the Street.
Q: How do I get around inside the
church?
A: First Congregational UCC is fully accessible to the physically
challenged. Enter through the glass door on the front of the
building on Wisconsin Street. Once inside, an elevator can be
used to ascend to all building levels.
We encourage first-time guests to enter the Sanctuary from the main entrance on Wisconsin Street. For church business, we ask that visitors use the east entrance (on the right side of the building when viewing the grounds from Wisconsin Street), and, after entering, climb the stairs to the second floor, our main level, where you will find the Church Manager's office, and through the sanctuary you will find the pastors office.
The basement level includes the United Child Care Center, the Fellowship Hall (a large gathering place), and the Lake Geneva Food Pantry, in addition to other classrooms and kitchen. The main floor (our second floor) contains the clergy and staff offices, the nursery, the Sanctuary and our Reception Room, a formal space used for meetings, coffee fellowship, and various church functions.
For the hearing impaired, we are happy to provide individual amplifiers for use during our service.
Q: What Should I wear to church?
A: There is a wide range of dress at First Congregational UCC. The
most common dress is business casual. You are, of course, free to
wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable in church.
Q: Is there a coffee hour?
A: We offer a Coffee Fellowship every Sunday after the 10:00am
service. This takes place in the room right across from the
sanctuary. Please don't be shy. Join us. We are eager to meet
you.
Q: How can I get more information?
A: Please sign the book found under the stain glass window at the back
of the church or speak to the minister after the service. If we
haven't answered all your questions here, please call the church
office at 262.248.3568. Our office hours are Monday through Friday,
9:00am - 1:00pm. Or e-mail your questions to the office
manager.
